COMPETENCY ACHIEVEMENT RECORD BOOKS

Competency Achievement Record Books (CARs) have been developed to assist with implementation of national training package qualification and skill sets including:

• The new Automotive Retail, Service & Repair Training Package AUR05

• Automotive Manufacturing Training Package (Passenger Motor Vehicle and Bus, Truck & Trailer) Automotive pre-apprenticeship course “Certificate ll in Automotive Technology Studies”

• Any other endorsed Training Package

CAR books link essential components of Units of Competence or course units in an easily understood and sequential format. CARs are designed to:

• Record repetitive or staged progression in practical and workplace performance

• List underpinning knowledge requirements

• Use identification codes relevant to computerised data records

• List critical aspects of assessment evidence for review and emphasis before final endorsement

CARs may be customised to meet business requirements linking essential components of Units of Competence with workplace policies and procedures:

Student Job Cards

AUTOMOTIVE JOB CARDS FOR STUDENTS & APPRENTICES

Automotive Training Victoria (ATV) has designed Automotive Job Cards as evidence of a student or apprentice’s practical performance or competency, in a workplace, or a simulated workplace, in accordance with the requirements of the AUR05 Automotive Training Package Retail, Service & Repair. 

A workplace is defined as an automotive workshop, such as a vehicle dealer’s service centre or vehicle repairer, and provides for on-the-job experience and assessment in service and repair jobs on operational vehicles, for a student/apprentice.

A simulated workplace is defined as a training organisation’s workshop that replicates an automotive workplace such as a vehicle dealer’s service centre or vehicle repairer and provides for students/apprentices to practice and be assessed in service and repair jobs on operational vehicles. 

Automotive Job Cards for students and apprentices are designed in a similar format to “Job Cards” currently in use throughout the automotive retail, service and repair industry as a means to record vehicle service and repair jobs and to update customer records. 

The student/apprentice, in addition to gaining experience in the use of job cards, will benefit from guidance offered by the cards in vehicle service procedures and vehicle repair procedures including before and after testing of the vehicle. 

Each Automotive Job Card includes provision for the evidence of three (3) performance assessments followed by sign-off by the student/apprentice and the trainer/supervisor.
